January 14, 2012

I'm definitely finding it difficult to keep up with the daily photo posting thing. Just like that, I missed three days.

Success with baking bread this weekend. Not quite as successful with the food photography.

January 7, 2012

Unlike the photo from January 4, this is an image from one of the older buildings I see on my downtown lunchtime walk.

January 6, 2012

One more from yesterday’s Stock Show parade.

January 5, 2012

Not a whole heck-of-a-lot to offer today, I’m afraid. I snapped a few pictures at the Stock Show parade this afternoon, but not much I’d care to post. But here’s a Lone Wolf I spotted, and he seems to have captured the attention of a couple of the Star-Spangled Flag bearers, and kind of freaked out one of their horses.

January 4, 2012

I usually can get out for a walk at lunchtime (downtown Denver), and can see a mix of old buildings and new. I’m no architect, but I think this is an example of the latter.

January 3, 2012

A little color tonight. I’ll take it. Kind of abstract if you step back a bit.

January 2, 2012

This is not my favorite time of the year. Cold and (seemingly) dead, and it’s hard to find any color.

But I really have very little to complain about. And the beauty is still there, even if it is not as obvious. And then sometimes out of nowhere comes a riot of colors in an unexpected sunset, which can be particular gorgeous this time of year. Next time we get one of those, I’ll try to grab it. Until then . . .

January 1, 2012

New year, new commitment, I hope. I have not been good at taking new photographs during the past couple of years. My intention is to change that, and I take inspiration from my friend, Megan, who is currently (as of today) on Day 186 of her mission to create something daily, and post it to her online journal, The Thirty Third. Megan is good at creating just about anything, which is clear from viewing her daily postings. I will stick to posting photographs.

Not everything that ends up here will be “suitable for framing.” Some will only be what I happened to grab that day, some will be experiments and mistakes, and some will occasionally end up being a keeper. The point is to continue taking pictures, and to keep on seeing and learning. Comments and feedback are entirely welcome and appreciated, and are likely to help keep me committed to this.

Today is the new year. I’m ready. Come on let's go.
